Lawrence & Mt Pleasant

I went for one of my long meandering walks yesterday. It was the perfect day for walk: nice and cool, but not too much so. Anyway I decided to travel North up Mount Pleasant Rd. Lots of nice houses there and generally a pleasant neighbourhood. I eventually made it all the way up to Lawrence Ave. Now the intersection of Lawrence Ave and Mt Pleasant Rd is an interesting one as it probably has the most stop lights of any intersection I have ever seen. Next time I’ll count them, but there’s easily 10 of them, possibly more. It’s a weird intersection since Mt Pleasant veers off to the East a bit. You can see what I mean on this map.

So the point of me mentioning this is, er, this: years ago someone told me that this intersection is actually in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most stop lights (or something to that effect). I tried searching the Guinness site and can’t find it mentioned anywhere and I’m just wondering if this is true or not.

Can anyone actually verify this?
