More About Weight Loss

I've written about weight loss before. Or, more accurately, I've written about my attempts at weight loss before. Back then my plan was to run my ass off. It really didn't get me anywhere.

So, about ten weeks ago I joined the Weight Watchers program at work. I've lost about 22 pounds so far and I look and feel great. I must say it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be, but it hasn't been exactly easy either. For whatever reason, an ice cream truck has been making frequent trips to my neighbourhood all summer. Not the best timing and it's a temptation I can really do without. It's damn fine ice cream to. I can still eat ice cream, by the way, as this definitely isn't an Atkins' diet. Weight Watchers is pretty reasonable when it comes to what you can eat and their more about portion size and nutritional balance.

Anyway, the point of all this was to improve my appearance and it's worked. I'm pretty damned happy about that. I wasn't that much overweight, but the difference in how I look now is pretty significant. I think I've dropped about two pant sizes (38 down to 34) which rules from a results perspective but sucks in that none of my cloths fit me anymore, not that I'm complaining. I've lost about 10% of what I weighed when I started and that's around the point when you have consultation to figure out what your goal is. At this point I feel there's still a few more pounds to go and then I'll start a maintenance program. I'm looking forward to that. And I'm looking forward to buying new cloths.

So yeah, Weight Watchers' rules and I would recommend them to anyone who really wants to lose weight.

Here's a little chart I whipped up to show you the progress I've made thus far (click on the image to see a larger version):
