My iBook Returns

Laptops are delicate, tempermental creatures that can cause much anguish and frustration. My iBook is no exception.

For the last month or so my iBook (I call it Arthur, for lack of a better name) has been on sebatical with the third-party support people associated with CompuSmart. That was a long and unpleasant stay, to be sure. There's a good reason for why I had to send it in, and the short version is that something was up with the logic board. Indeed. Of course I didn't know this at the time I sent it in, but that's what the support ticket says and I'm cautiously excepting that as the answer.

For months my iBook was plagued by an exceptionally irritating problem whereby the screen would occasionally go blank when I adjusted the position of the screen/lid. Very annoying indeed, and made even more so by the fact that it wasn't always reproducible. Needless to say I was reluctant, nay loath, to take Arthur in for servicing. I knew it would be a painful, drawn out exercise, and it was.

And now he's back and I'm typing on him at this very moment. Joy!

So yeah, always get the warranty, especially when buying laptops.
