Self-Trepanation for Dummies

I originally created this for a technical writing assignment I had back in the day (several years ago in fact). Instead of writing something dry about computer software I decided to turn it into a satirical piece. I figured I'd be writing plenty of manuals once I started working so I might as well have some fun with it.

My intention was to parody the "For Dummies" style and use it to poke fun at pop-psychology/self-help literature by creating a manual about the most insane thing I could think of -- self-trepanation. I guess I was going for a technical writer's version of Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal.

Anyway, a lot of people seem to get a kick out of it so I thought I'd put it on my site.

Disclaimer

You'll find a link to the PDF bellow, but before you download the manual I want to make one thing perfectly clear: I do not endorse the practice of self-trepanation. Some people may not understand the humour, so I want to make sure I clear that up. If you actually followed what I suggest you'd probably kill yourself or cause severe brain damage, so don't do it.
