Supporting Joe Clark

Accessibility expert, fellow Torontonian, and published author Joe Clark has started a micropatronage drive to support his efforts while he starts up a research project, the Open & Closed Project. His donation goal is $7,777, which will keep him going while he tries to raise about $7 million (CDN) for the project. It’s an ambitious and very worth while project which aims to:

  • Write a set of standards for four fields of accessibility – captioning, audio description, subtitling, and dubbing.
  • Develop training and certification programs.
  • Work on a universal file format for the four fields of accessibility.
  • Design and test new fonts for captioning and subtitling.

So go ahead and lend Joe a hand by either donating money (as I have done) or displaying a banner to show your support (which I’ve also done).
